FOUR short films inspired by art at Tate Liverpool and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mike Figgis will be broadcast as part of Channel 4’s Three Minute Wonders series.
The shorts, which show local people responding to well-known sculptures, will be shown from December 14-17.
The films are also available to view alongside the art works in the current This is Sculpture display, and will be available to view on the gallery’s website.
The first one sees Carl Andre’s 144 Magnesium Square (1969) relocated to Rapid hardware store, the second features students’ reactions to Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain (1917, replica 1964).
The North Liverpool Academy, in Everton, was the setting for the third film, showing secondary school pupils discussing their thoughts on Dan Flavin’s Untitled (Corner Piece) (1969), while the fourth focused on Total Equilibrium Tank (1985), by Jeff Koons.
