ARTISTS have just one more month to register for the UK’s biggest painting prize.

Entries for the £25,000 John Moores Painting Prize will close on January 20.

Judging will take place throughout 2012, resulting in an exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery from September as part of the Liverpool Biennial.

This year’s panel comprises Merseyside-born former Turner Prize nominee Fiona Banner, BBC creative director Alan Yentob, Whitechapel art gallery director Iwona Blazwick and artists Angela de la Cruzand George Shaw.

The John Moores Painting Prize is an anonymous and open submission competition available to all UK-based artists working with paint. Entries have to be original and painted within the past two years.

Previous winners have included David Hockney, Peter Doig and Lisa Milroy. The 2010 First Prize was won by Keith Coventry.

Register online at www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/johnmoores. The winners will be announced on September 13.
