AN ARTIST whose work is inspired by Beatles lyrics is calling for the public to help create his latest piece.
Daniel James is building an installation made of floating umbrellas for the new Six Rooms Gallery in Birkenhead.
Based on the words to Paul McCartney’s song Can’t Buy Me Love, it is aimed as a metaphor for the protection love gives and takes.
Before taking their umbrellas to the gallery, at 26 Argyle Street, contributors should attach a label expressing an experience of love, good or bad.
A temporary exhibition space, the Six Rooms Gallery was set up to extend the Liverpool Biennial across the River Mersey.
It forms part of the Independents, or fringe, strand of the 10-week festival of contemporary visual art.
A combination of more than 30 established and emerging artists and designers will explore the Biennial theme of "Touched" by bringing new art, craft, design and architecture together in a single space.
Artists will be on hand to talk about their own work and run free workshops throughout the exhibition period.
The overall event will be split into three group shows.
Liverpool Biennial International Festival of Contemporary Art was founded by James Moores in 1998, and is presented free to the public every two years over a 10-week period.
