Garrett Forsey, chef and restaurant owner _320
A FORMER Ritz chef has opened a 100-seat restaurant in a former do-it-yourself shop in Wirral.
Garrett’s, in Bebington, was originally based in a small building in the town centre. But now owner Garrett Forsey has expanded to include a wine bar, al fresco dining and a grand piano – which is already a star attraction in the new restaurant.
Also in the pipeline is a delicatessen and bakery next door, which will allow people to enjoy the Garrett’s experience at home. Mr Forsey said: "We are really aiming to provide a fantastic experience which will have something for everyone. We have built up a loyal customer base and we listened to what they wanted in their neighbourhood and I think the new Garrett’s will give them what they want."
Dishes include choices such as fresh Mussels cooked in a ginger, garlic and coconut broth with crusty bread, and Garrett believes his main influences come from his mother’s home cooking back in Ireland.
Mr Forsey added: "We always had good home cooking using local produce. The area is known for its wonderful seafood, and that is still a big influence to me."
He worked at the Ritz in London and then went to Toronto before working at Thornton Hall Hotel, in Wirral.
