The make-up revolution

Make-up artist, Charlotte Tilbury

SHE is the world’s most in-demand make-up artist, having created looks for such A-listers as Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kylie Minogue and Keira Knightley, and is best buddies with none other than Kate Moss.

Now beauty brain extraordinaire Charlotte Tilbury plans to makeover your make-up bags.

As its creative director, flame-haired Charlotte, whose love affair with make-up began at boarding school when she was 13, is the face, voice and magic fingers of the new Myface cosmetic range.

“I was fascinated by the effect one woman could have on entering a room, how people could be instantly drawn to her all because of her beauty, style and glamour I always wondered what her secret was – and then I discovered the power of make-up,” says Charlotte.

Charlotte’s partner in the range is Gail Federici, a long-time collaborator with hair supremo John Frieda, who changed women’s lives more than a decade ago with the launch of Frizz-Ease.

Pretty good pedigree, so no wonder the pair claim they are about to revolutionise the make-up world.

In a nutshell, the Myface range is divided into three categories based on skin tones of “fair”, “medium” and “dark”. You simply decide which category you fall into and, voila!, every colour within that category (all of which has been specifically designed by Charlotte herself) should contain the perfect colours for your tones.

Designed to appeal to modern girls with packaging that resembles iPods and hi-tech goods, and with 21st-century names like Upload Lashes and Blingtones eyeshadows, Charlotte says it is virtually foolproof.

She says: “I believe in maximising your beauty quickly, using clever, simple- to-use products. That is why I swear by Myface – it really is a foolproof approach to choosing cosmetics. Once you have established your skin tone, you simply can’t go wrong.

“By having the colours, the tones, the formulations hand picked for you . . . this is the next best thing to having me right there in the room!”

Until any of us can afford to have Charlotte in our bedrooms as we get ready for a big night out, we can head over to Boots on Saturday, where her crack team of make-up artists will be in the Clayton Square store, from 10am-1pm, showing how to make the most of your features with the fab new range.

Prices start from £6.49 for a lip pencil, to £12.99 for a foundation.
