Time to be a style outsider with Topshop (GALLERY)

Topshop takes its cues from the hunting, shooting and fishing set for autumn/ winter. Emma Johnson checks it out

OKAY, okay, we know it is still August, and it is technically still summer. But have you looked out of the window lately?

The weather more resembles that of mid-October. This downturn, coupled with the fact that stores are now awash with new season clothes, means we can no longer resist giving you a peek at the fashion to come.

And where better to start than high street favourite Topshop?

Here we take a peek at some of the pieces in the store’s “Outsiders” collection.

The range has taken the best of Britain’s heritage pieces and deconstructed them, giving it a modern feel.

Traditional fabrics like plaid, tweed and dense melton are put into new and unexpected shapes, while elements of hunting, shooting and fishing pervade this trend, with jodhpurs and equestrian-style jackets key to the look.

Barbour jackets are reworked, parkas have fake fur collars and trims, and the pea coat is updated, while Aran and Guernsey knits are given a boyfriend feel and waxed fabric appears on bags, straps and coats.

Oh, and if you only buy one thing this season, make it a pair of thermal leggings or some chunky socks. If last winter is anything to go by, you might need them.
