Flickr: Liverpool Chinatown comes alive for Year of the Snake

Sean Bradbury looks at some of the best Chinese New Year celebration pictures by the Post Flickr group

THE oldest Chinatown in Europe is the setting for this week’s Flickr photos as Liverpool saw in the Year of the Snake in style.

Thousands gathered in the city centre to celebrate Chinese New Year and several members of our Flickr group were on hand to frame the festivities.

The full colour of the dragon procession was highlighted in Geoffrey the Canon Enthusiast’s shot.

Derek Hyamson captured ‘Dancing in the Rain’ as a Tai Chi demonstration took place in Nelson Street.

Briodeparis got up close and personal with two vibrant characters.

Jason Wells caught a fleeting glimpse of a tail in front of the Chinatown Arch.

And Jeff Wong grabbed a great angle of another Tai Chi showcase.
