I WAS just thinking what a great time it was for Everton to play Spurs, who will be far too excited about the FA Cup to worry about Premiership points in tomorrow’s game at Goodison.
Then I saw the quarter-final draw. But even though Spurs couldn’t have asked for a worse one than Chelsea away, they are still in the UEFA Cup and manager Martin Jol has made it known that he is willing to sacrifice league positions for silverware this season.
Add to that the fact that their away form in the Premiership has been so poor this season, I really think Everton still have the perfect chance to make the most of this game in hand.
They can really get up and at them, just as they did in August when they won 2-0 and Andrew Johnson scored that great goal.
He was playing up front on his own that day and the tactic worked to perfection.
So it’s all set up for another Everton win tomorrow.
