Reading 1 Liverpool 2
Liverpool took all three points late on to follow up their stunning mid week Champions League win.
The win takes them further ahead of Arsenal in the race for third place with the Londoners losing at home to West Ham.
The Reds took the lead on 15 minutes when Alvaro Arbeloa netted with the home side still unhappy to have had a penalty shout turned down.
The Royals got themselves on level terms two minutes into the second half through Brynjar Gunnarsson's well struck shot. They then almost took the lead when Peter Crouch who has stuck four in his last two games, glanced a header onto his owned cross bar.
The Reds snatched the win with just four minutes remaining though as Dirk Kuyt, who had come off the bench, nodded in Jermaine Pennant's centre.
