Liverpool 0 - 0 Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM continued to be a bogey team for Rafael Benitez in the Premier League as they held Liverpool to a 0- 0 draw at Anfield.

Along with champions Manchester United, the Midlanders are the only side the Spaniard is yet to get the better of in an English top flight fixture.

The result, Liverpool’s third draw in a row since returning from the international break, means they are now four points behind leaders Arsenal, after the Gunners thrashed bottom side Derby County 5 - 0 .

Skipper Steven Gerrard came closet to breaking the deadlock in the second half but saw his effort cleared off the line by Mehdei Nasti, while substitute Fernando Torres had the Kop gasping with an overhead scissor-kick effort that flashed just wide of Maik Taylor’s left hand post.
