Fabio Aurelio: Let’s forget Besiktas now

FABIO AURELIO today called on Liverpool to forget about Besiktas and to focus on this weekend’s clash with Fulham.

Though delighted with the way Liverpool demolished the Turkish outfit on Tuesday night, Aurelio says now is not the time to dwell on that game and the Reds must instead concentrate all their efforts on climbing the Premier League table.

He said: “Yes, we did play very well against Besiktas and we can take a lot of confidence from that.

“But in football the most important game is the next one and for us that means Fulham on Saturday so we must now concentrate on that.

“When you have a result like the one on Tuesday night you have to take it in your stride and not get carried away because we have many important games coming up in the Premier League and in the Champions League and we cannot afford to be distracted.

“We have had a lot of draws in the Premier League and our form at home has not been as good as we would have liked.

“So we have to focus on Fulham and look to use the advantage of playing at home in our favour.”

Meanwhile, Harry Kewell’s return to fitness has brought him a recall to the Australian national squad.

Kewell has been named in the 19-man squad to face Nigeria on November 19 and Australia acting coach Rob Baan is delighted to be able to call upon the services of the injury-ravaged winger.

He said: "We are just lucky he is finally ready again. Hopefully he will get some minutes in the coming weekend for Liverpool.

"Of course he will not play 90 minutes for us but we will see how fit and how far we can come with him."

Fortunately, Kewell’s call-up will not result in him having to travel any further than London as the friendly match is taking place at Fulham’s Craven Cottage.
