IF THE new American owners were to sack what I, and many long-standing Liverpool FC supporters, consider to be the most tactically astute manager in Europe, then all Liverpool supporters would have to show their utter disgust by boycotting Anfield for the first home match after Rafa’s sacking.
This would send shockwaves all the way back to America and maybe they would then realise that LFC to the supporters is more than a football club, it is a way of life.
The new owners need to learn and pretty fast, that they have taken on more than a football club in Liverpool FC, they have taken on an institution.
To Liverpool people, football is not a hobby or a pastime like many of the sports in the States.

Players’ fault
BEING of sound mind and not a football supporter, I am totally amazed at the pathetic antics in the football world.
England manager Steve McClaren has been sacked and Rafael Benitez’s future is in doubt at Liverpool – can someone explain why?
Surely the people responsible for the present state of affairs are the players – over-paid and under-performing! Don’t sack the manager, sack the players, or at the very least dock their pay until they do better.

False dawn
INSTEAD of the uproar that should have greeted the fact that our American owners are saddling the club and us the supporters with a £500million debt, everyone is bought off by dreams of a new wonderful stadia etc.
Hicks and Gillett are no different to Dubai Holdings. David Moores could have worked with others who had shares in the club and who also had excellent business brains, but were true Liverpool FC fans.
The supporters know Rafa’s true worth. The man is a fantastic manager. We can see the way the club is going and recognise that we will have a bright future if he is allowed to manage properly and not be hindered.
Rafa isn’t trying to make a fast buck out of us, at our expense. He has not mortgaged us to the hilt and left us with no money to furnish the house.

Peace deal
LET’S hope common sense is going to prevail! Well done Rafa for taking the first step of sorting this mess. Now let’s get on with playing football and beat Porto on another famous European night!

Lost promises
WELL done Rafa to taking steps towards brokering a peaceful outcome at Anfield, but I feel hurt as a fan that some promises from abroad have been broken it seems.

Stand firm
RAFA should stand his ground and not let the owners ride roughshod over him and the fans, they need to know this is football, not soccer.

Staying power
THERE are no ifs or buts to this situation – it needs to be resolved like men!
Rafa needs to stay and I don’t mean until the end of season – it should be at least 10 more years. This is the man to lead us to titles and more cups.

Anfield response
THANKS Rafa for showing bottle again! Now motivate the players against Porto and we, the supporters, will give you the response you need!

Stop squabbling
I’M GETTING worried now; both sides are doing their arguing in public which isn’t the Liverpool way.
I can only see things getting worse, which will end up with someone leaving the club.
What I can’t understand is Rafa isn’t asking for any money, but if the owners get their way and oust Rafa, they will have to spend big time for any new manager, plus a mega pay-off. Isn’t this our best ever start to a Premier League? Come on boys, stop the squabbling.
