Liverpool FC raids: Players fear they are being followed

Steve Gerrard

LIVERPOOL FC players fear they are being followed home from their Melwood training ground by thieves intent on locating their properties.

Their worries emerged as captain Steven Gerrard’s wife, Alex Curran, was last night hailed for her bravery after confronting four masked raiders at the couple’s home in Formby, as he starred in the team’s 4-0 victory in Marseilles on Tuesday night.

Merseyside Police last night for the first time confirmed they were linking a series of robberies all targeting the homes of Premiership footballers while they were away playing.

A close friend of Steven Gerrard said he felt “violated” and “angry” over the break-in, the sixth suffered by LFC players in 18 months.

The club is now urgently looking at ways to protect their players’ homes while they are on the pitch.
