CHESTER CITY play the first of two home games in a four-day period tomorrow when they entertain second-placed Rotherham United at the Deva Stadium.
Following the Millers’ visit, Rochdale make the short journey to Chester next Tuesday as City try to arrest a winless run of six matches.
City are hopeful of signing of an experienced forward for tomorrow’s match, but manager Bobby Williamson will also be boosted by the return to action of senior striker John Murphy, following an ankle injury which has kept him out since Boxing Day. Williamson may also hand a starting place to Craig Lindfield, the young striker who is currently on loan from Liverpool made his City debut at Notts County last Saturday, when he came on as a second-half substitute.
Midfielder Tony Grant is also available for selection tomorrow after recovering from a hamstring injury, while central defender Paul Linwood returns to action after missing last week’s trip to Meadow Lane because of a one-match suspension.
Williamson will also be buoyed by the news that Tony Dinning is making progress following his ankle injury, and could return to action in the next fortnight.
Meanwhile, the former Wrexham goalkeeper Mark Morris is assisting City’s keepers John Danby and Phil Palethorpe with their coaching. Morris has taken over the mantle from former goalkeeping coach Gavin Ward, who left the club earlier this month.
