Ian Rush named as witness in fakes trial

FOOTBALLERS Ian Rush, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Gary Neville and Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson emerged as new prosecution witnesses in a sports memorabilia fakery trial yesterday .

Graeme Walker, director of Chester-based Sporting Icons, and his former business partner Faisal Madani are accused of selling and offering dubious memorabilia.

They allegedly sold shirts and photographs bearing the faked autographs of professional players who also included Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen.

The jury of five women and seven men were told the pair allegedly offered 19 fake England arm bands, bootleg England caps from a match against Luxembourg and a Liverpool FC European Cup winners jersey bearing a forged Ian Rush signature, among other items.

The case continues at Chester Crown Court.
