A YEAR on from David Moores relinquishing control of LFC and it’s fair to say that it hasn’t exactly been a fairytale for the faithful fans.
After all the negative press over the Americans arrival at Old Trafford we really believed that we were getting the real deal but how wrong could we be. The last few months have been painful and we just hope that this whole sorry mess can be resolved soon before it causes anymore unneeded tremors.
Thankfully other rumours have deflected us somewhat from this sorry saga with news circulating about the future of Xabi Alonso, and it’s doesn’t take a genius to see why. Alonso has only showed rare glimpses of his first season for me and right now in a midfield where we need drive, creativity and pace, he doesn’t look like a solution.
Alonso is very much drinking in a congested last chance saloon.
The Sunderland result was vital for the whole mood around the club, and yet again Peter Crouch showed his goals per start ratio is strong. Rafa must start him tomorrow, and I hope Ryan Babel also gets the nod for the left-wing position. I think most Liverpool fans are in agreement that the Dutchman could be a massive force next season and it is crucial he gets that experience. Admittedly he is raw but he needs games to get him at a level where he can start regularly.
Liverpool really need to go for the win tomorrow, after the amount of draws we’ve racked up recently, the fans deserve a positive display and a chance to record a rare victory in the capital.
With away trips to all of the top three to come we need to start delivering, but without Fernando Torres tomorrow that looks like a real tall order.
