Liverpool fans enjoy return to Milan

Liverpool fans in Milan

LIVERPOOL fans made their presence felt in Milan city centre yesterday ahead of tonight’s UEFA Champions League game against Inter Milan at the San Siro Stadium.

Liverpool arrive with a two-goal lead from the first leg at Anfield and are firm favourites to complete the job.

It is the first time LFC have returned there since their controversial European Cup semi-final in 1965, when the Anfield club suffered what they consider the worst injustice of their history.

Inter won that second leg 3-0 and stopped Liverpool reaching their first-ever European Cup final, the Merseysiders having won 3-1 at Anfield.

However, there was anger over the way that Inter were awarded two hugely debatable goals and Liverpool had a perfectly good one disallowed.

Fans will be hoping that history will not repeat itself at tonight’s re-match.
