Xabi Alonso insists rift with Rafa Benitez is over

MIDIFIELDER Xabi Alonso insists he has made his peace with Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez and wants to stay at Anfield for the forseeable future.

The Spanish international was a £10million target for Barcelona after reports that his relationship with Benitez had broken down.

But he said: "I know I was criticised, but it's over. For me that is forgotten now.

"I have a contract until 2012 and I'm quite satisfied about my future.

"I will always accept the orders of my coach and I don't think that anyone can question my professionalism."
