LIVERPOOL’S Champions League victory was big news in Spain, with media commentators in the football-mad country hailing the game and the Spaniards who contributed to the final result.
Sports daily AS, said: “What Liver-pool, Arsenal and the public at Anfield displayed last night was pure football . . . action, emotion.
“The one sad thing was that one of the teams, Arsenal, was knocked out.
“Both deserved to continue in the championship – Reds and Gunners, Cesc, Xavi and Torres, Almunia and Reina, the Spaniards who contributed to the spectacular and showed it was quite possible to live new emotions far from their country.”
Liverpool’s victory was watched by 25% of the television audience in Spain on Tuesday.
