VIEW FROM THE STANDS: Another missed chance for Liverpool

Steven Gerrard's late chance at Stoke goes begging

ANOTHER chance to put some daylight between us and Man United and Chelsea but another chance wasted.

Stoke have a decent home record but are everyone’s idea of Premier League cannon-fodder this year.

Whereas Hull have won admirers for their adventurous football, Stoke’s only contribution of note to the season so far has been the long throws of Rory Delap. Enough said.

Stoke are a side packed with big, strong players and play percentage football.

The fact that we’ve only managed to take two points out of a possible six against them is likely to cost us when the conclusion of the season comes around.

More worrying though was the performance itself, the whole team seemed flat as if the prospect of opening up a six-point gap either meant little or had made them freeze.

We seemed to miss Alonso and if struggling to score against Stoke doesn’t mean Robbie Keane gets at least 20 minutes on the field, then the Irishman has a right to wonder just what set of circumstances does?
