Comic legend shares 800th birthday bash

KEN DODD dropped in to Knotty Ash Primary School to help pupils celebrate the end of term with an 800th birthday party.

It is one of 145 schools across Liverpool which is marking the city’s 800th anniversary with a huge party. Liverpool officially turns 800 on Tuesday, August 28, when all 74,000 pupils at the city’s primary and secondary schools will receive the 2007 commemorative coin.

Councillor Warren Bradley, leader of Liverpool City Council and deputy chair-man of Liverpool Culture Company, said: “Liverpool's 800th is a chance to celeb-rate the history and achieve-ments of the city. Schools are at the heart of communi-ties and it is vital pupils are at the heart of the party.”
