Suggestions for how to celebrate Liverpool's 800th birthday include extending the Mathew Street festival or holding a city parade (200)
INITIAL details for this weekend’s Mathew Street Festival have now been released as it emerged revellers will be banned from drinking in the street during this year’s event.
Anyone found with alcohol will have it confiscated.
A total of 75 venues so far have signed up to take part in the festival, after outdoor stages were scraped on health and safety grounds.
Young musicians due to take part in the annual Streetwaves competition in Williamson Square will now showcase their talents at the Picket in Jordan Street on Friday night.
In total 17 young bands will play between 5-11pm, while 10 of the acts will also appear at Creamfields on Saturday.
Full details will be made available at the end of the week. Visit www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk for the latest information.
