A FULL-SCALE replica of Anne Frank’s bedroom will be on display in Liverpool as part of a month-long Holocaust memorial event.
The centrepiece of the Anne Frank Festival will be an exhibition at the Anglican Cathedral entitled Anne Frank and You. It includes a replica of her Amsterdam bedroom, where she wrote her famous diaries.
The exhibition has been created by the Anne Frank Trust UK and the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.
It explores the history of the Holocaust and presents contemporary issues such as racism in football, bullying and questions of identity in modern Britain.
The festival, which runs from January 5 until February 8 next year, will complement and support National Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27 2008 at the Philharmonic Hall.
Other activities will include events for schools and young people, art and writing competitions, a young people’s musical event and a film festival.
Liverpool’s Lord Mayor, Cllr Paul Clark, said: “The national Holocaust Memorial Day event and Anne Frank Festival will be second to none.
“Both represent a fantastic start to the city’s wonderful year-long Capital of Culture celebrations.”
