Capital of Culture ticket ballot will provide targets for future events

THE ticket ballot for some of Liverpool’s biggest Capital of Culture shows will help create a database of potential future customers, it emerged last night.

Kris Donaldson, marketing director for the Culture Company revealed the city was using the ballot to collect the email addresses of people who might be interested in other tickets in future.

He said the company’s cultural partners would also be able to use the information.

It came as Saturday’s deadline for the lottery was last night extended by a week to October 14 for both postal entries and online submissions, because of an impending postal strike.

Officials at the Culture Company said they had already had thousands of entries but wanted to extend the ballot to be fair to all entrants.

Yesterday, the Communications Workers Union (CWU) announced two 48-hour postal strikes.

The first will begin at lunchtime on Thursday and ends at lunchtime on Satur- day. The second will start early on Monday, October 8, ending early on Wednesday, October 10.

The ballot for the tickets, which range from £9 to £75 in price, is for eight key events such as the Liverpool Sound concert featuring Sir Paul McCartney.
