Hundreds of pictures sent to our new online gallery

DOZENS of photographers have been sending in their pictures of Liverpool to our new online 2008 photo gallery.

More than 350 pictures have so far been added to our group on the photosharing website, Flickr, many of which were taken at the People’s Opening event on St George’s Plateau.

Among the photos picked for publication by our picture editor, Richard Williams, was one by John Kennan, who was among the 50,000 at the opening.

His shot was of acrobats dressed as workmen in front of one of the large screens on St George’s Hall. Also at the event was Charlie Charlton, of Maghull, who pointed his camera towards the plinth on the plateau to snap a picture of a guitarist playing at altitude.

But our gallery isn’t just meant for pictures of culture events – we want to build an online gallery of how you are seeing Liverpool in 2008.

Picking up that theme was Les Auld, of Southport, who photographed the Radio City tower and the Royal Court from an unusual angle, complete with a moon during the day.

And finally, Flickr user Robin Parker sent in the most unusual image of Liverpool to date, that of a tart with the shape of the Liver Bird cut out.

You can see all the pictures online now at http://www.flickr.com/groups/liverpooldailypost08 – you can also post your own. Alternatively, email them to makethenews@dailypost.co.uk or upload them via the “send us your photos” link on the top right hand corner of www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk
