TODAY sees the launch of Soundcity, a four-day international music festival and conference showcasing globally renowned bands as well as break-through local talent, that will take place in Liverpool for the first time in May.
The festival will play across 30 venues during 2008 and organisers say is the first of its kind to hit the region.
It will also become the first festival to be broadcast through internet phenomenon Second Life.
Soundcity launches with a live event on May 27 and runs right up to the Paul McCartney gig at Anfield on June 1.
There will be dozens of other parties and gigs, including an unsigned festival featuring new acts from all over the world.
Organiser Dave Pichilingi said: “Soundcity aims to utilise the great number of performance spaces that Liverpool has to offer.”
Creative Cultures, one of the event partners, has recreated all the venues and performance spaces on internet virtual world Second Life.
