EVANDER HOLYFIELD, the former world heavyweight boxing champion, will visit Liverpool today to encourage children to read.
Holyfield, who is well known for losing part of his ear when it was bitten off during a bout with Mike Tyson, is in the city to promote World Book Day.
He will read part of his autobiography, Becoming Holyfield, to children at the city’s Central Library in William Brown Street.
Cllr Paul Clein, Liverpool’s executive member for children’s services, said: “What an excellent event.
“The young people will hear an inspirational book read by someone who came from very humble beginnings yet has triumphed over adversity.
“He can really strike a chord with some of our young people.”
Evander Holyfield will also be meeting fans to promote his own book at Waterstones store, in Bold Street, at noon today.
