Film-makers take inspiration from £3,000 prize from Atlantic

The FACT Centre in Wood Street, Liverpool

BARRISTERS at Atlantic Chambers are swapping the court room for the editing suite by supporting a showcase for local filmmakers.

Atlantic Chambers, based in Cook Street, is playing film critic as the official corporate sponsor of Liverpool Film Night at Fact, culminating in the Liverpool Film Night Awards in November.

The night is Fact’s regular evening dedicated to movie-making talent on Merseyside.

This year, thanks to backing from Atlantic Chambers, shortlisted films from each Liverpool Film Night at Fact will get the chance to win a first prize of £3,000 plus the use of one week’s editing facilities and hire of a high definition camera.

John Benson QC, Head of Atlantic Chambers, said: “We wanted to do something special to show our support for Capital of Culture year and we thought this creative project with Fact was ideal.

“The Liverpool Film Night is designed to help develop filmmaking talent, of which there is an abundance in Mer-seyside. We are delighted to be able to provide the win-ner of this year’s Liverpool Film Night Awards with a top prize which may help them along even further in their blossoming film-making career.

“We are also excited to be on the judging panel this year and I am sure it will be a tough contest to critique.”

This year, around 11 films are shortlisted for each of Fact’s film nights covering a range of genres including comedy, animation, documentary and drama.
