Wombats prepare for homecoming Arena gig

THE Wombats are to play their biggest headline show to date at the Echo Arena, Liverpool.

They will be one of the first indie bands to play the 10,0000-capacity venue, which will also host more established acts like Duran Duran and Elton John.

The November 22 gig follows a sold-out national tour, including dates at the Royal Albert Hall, the Carling Weekender, Glastonbury, T In The Park and Isle of Wight.

Singer Matthew Murphy, also known as Murph, said: “It’s going to be great. We got a taste for the Arena when we played at the Capital of Culture launch there.

“To play our own show will be amazing.”
