THE first dragon boat racing on West Kirby’s marine lake will take place this Saturday.
The event is being held by Calday Grange Grammar School and the Rotary Club of Mid Wirral, who have teamed up with professional Dragon Boat event organiser 4 Dragons Ltd.
Calday Grange Grammar has chosen to support Bob Champion’s Cancer Charity, one of the few charities supporting research into male cancer, and the event will also benefit other local good causes.
The trophies will be presented by Bob Champion, winner of the 1981 Grand National on Aldaniti, who is a cancer survivor and now a fundraiser.
Teams from the boys’ grammar school – staff and students – will race against teams from the Merseyside community.
The event runs from 9am to 4pm.
