Hub festival hopefuls go through their paces

MORE than 20,000 people are expected to get down to Otterspool Park in Liverpool this weekend for the sixth annual Hub festival.

The free event takes place over two days from 11am to 6pm tomorrow and Sunday.

The Hub festival is a mix of urban art, music and extreme sports including skateboarding, BMX, in-line skating, and body popping.

Festival entertainment will include Shlomo “the world’s finest human beatboxer”, MCs and DJs, Double Dutch hip-hop dancers and live music from unsigned bands from across Merseyside.

An urban village selling extreme sports equipment, 250m-long graffiti wall, “Well B’In Zone” with health and lifestyle advice, Team Extreme skate park and free workshops are just some of the activities for visitors to get involved in.

Event organiser Susan Whitehead said: “Hub’s reputation as one of the best urban youth festivals in the country is travelling.

“The line-up at Hub this year is definitely the best we’ve ever had. I’m sure festival-goers will love the improvements we’ve made for 2008.’’

The Hub festival was established by the Culture Company during the bid to become the 2008 European City of Culture.
