WOODWARDS Café Bar brought culture celebrations to Formby last weekend to mark their 5th birthday.
Footballer Alan Stubbs’ Woodwards team transformed the bar into a tribute to all things Liverpool, including a reproduction of Mathew Street, a yellow submarine and John Lennon propping up the bar.
The family day on Saturday saw a balloon release to mark the start of the festivities, with free face painting, live music and children’s competitions to decorate a Superlambanana and dress as their favourite Liverpool icon.
With a barbecue and further live music across the remainder of the weekend, the party spirit of the Scousers was truly captured.
The weekend marks the first of a number of special Woodwards events to celebrate 2008, including Jazz festival celebrations this coming weekend at Woodwards Birkdale, and live music and a barbecue throughout the forthcoming Birkdale Golf Open in July.
