LIVERPOOLJAZZ, Liverpool’s own jazz music development and promotion organisation, has restarted its monthly concerts at the Bluecoat now it has reopened following a fire shortly after its relaunch.
The concerts will run on the first Thursday of each month and will showcase the talents of the city’s finest jazz musicians.
The next concert on Thursday features New Horizons, a new band showcasing the region’s most talented players in a programme of contemporary and mainstream jazz featuring well-known standards and works byŠNorth WestŠcomposers.
The band comprises Martin Smith on trumpet, Anthony Ormesher on guitar, Tim Harvey on piano, Tilo Pirnbaum on drums, and Hugo Harrison on bass, with special guest saxophonist Mike Hall, who is head of jazz studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester.
It is the latest project from Liverpooljazz, which was behind the Jazz at the Palm House series earlier in the year.
The group is compiling a database of musicians and venues.

The next performances are on July 3 and August 7.
