The moin moin proved filling yet somewhat insipid and did little to complement the rather flat sadsa. The tomato sauce proved the redeeming feature.
Mark fared rather better. “The rice is appetising and the beef pieces are lifted by the seasonings,” he said.
We did go for some desserts which are largely European inspired. My bread and raisins baked pudding (£4.50) – bread and butter pudding by another name – was hugely sweet and moist while Mark went for banana split (£4.50).
“How long does it take to cut a banana in half,” he pondered, as we waited for what seemed another age.
When we eventually received the bill, the drinks did not appear.
We assume these came free as compensation for the long wait.
And that’s what lingers in the memory. A wonderful idea, some great food – but service really does need to improve.
