LIVERPOOL’S most recent contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest became the stuff of legend.
It was in 2003 that the Liverpool duo Jemini went on stage in Latvia and with a shaky version of the song Cry Baby managed to gather “nul points”.
It was the worst showing the UK has ever had in the contest and remains so.
This year, Liverpool has had no input into the British entry Even If, which will be delivered to a waiting Eurovision world in Belgrade on Saturday.
This one was co-written by its per- former Andy Abraham, a family man who has been dubbed “man and voice of the people”.
But Liverpool will not be ignoring the contest. It is staging a Eurovision Party.
The party – claimed to be Britain’s biggest – will be at Picturehouse at FACT cinema on Saturday.
Some 200 Eurofans are expected to attend with the Song Contest broadcast live from the Beogradska Arena and screened in High Definition on the cinema screen.
The event is being co-promoted by Outsiders, the Liverpool Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer and Trans Film Festival.
* EUROVISION Party at 7pm, Saturday, at Picturehouse at FACT. Tickets £10. 0871 704 2063.
