THE film, Blueprint, is about to get one of the strangest cinema re- leases ever dreamed of by the gimmick industry.
It will tour 13 British cinemas – including Liverpool – on a series of one-night stands, and never be seen on a cinema screen again in this country.
Not surprisingly, the man behind it is a mus- ician used to one night stands, ex-Strangler Hugh Cornwell.
The film Blueprint is a feature-length movie recorded and filmed at London’s Toe Rag Studio where Cornwell and his latest band (Caroline Campbell, bass, Chris Bell, drums) were making their new album Hoover Dam.
The film shows them performing the album with producer Liam Watson twiddling the knobs. Six cameras captured the action with each song given a different look.
It also includes an interview with Corn- well by Robert Elms.
The film – Cornwell’s first film project – will be shown on the Picturehouse network with Liverpool the last date on the tour at FACT on June 10.
Cornwell will attend each screening for a question and answer session.
Mark Allenby, of CityScreen, the owner and operator of Picturehouse cinemas, was delighted to be working on the project with Cornwell. “It is yet another example of our continued commit- ment to diverse and targeted film pro- gramming,” he said.
