Writers take stage for Writing on the Wall literary festival

Howard Marks, a former Britain's most wanted man

THE Writing on the Wall literary festival continues this weekend by pairing up two writers in conversation whose former professions would have left them anything but civil.

Former drug trafficker Howard Marks is taking to the stage with Harry the Polis, aka Harry Morris, a former police officer with nearly 30 years service.

Morris spend nearly 30 years with Strathclyde Police, and began writing to liven up the force’s internal newsletter and is now a highly successful author with humorous books about his time in the job including Even the Lies are True. On the other hand, Howard Marks, aka Mr Nice, is a former Britain’s most wanted man who fights for the legalisation of cannabis.

Together they meet for "It’s a fair Cop" at the Bluecoat on Saturday night.

Later in the week, the likes of journalist Brian Reade and Brick Up the Mersey Tunnels co-writer Nicky Allt will be discussing "who owns the beautiful game".

It is hailed as the fans’ chance to have a say on the FA, new stadiums, Liverpool, Everton, and all issues inbetween.

It takes place at the Liverpool Lighthouse on Oakfield Road in Anfield.
