MARTIN CARTHY tops the bill of the 4th Wirral Folk on the Coast festival, which takes place over the weekend.
Organisers are promising an event bigger and better than ever as music fans travel from around the country to camp from tonight through to Monday morning.
It takes place at the OC Sports and Leisure Centre, Bridle Road, in Bromborough, with acts over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
A line-up of national and local folk music artists who specialise in performing both contemporary and traditional have been booked, including Martin Carthy, Chris While and Julie Matthews, Harvey Andrews, Jez Lowe, Les Barker, Keith Donnelly, Anthony John Clarke, Johnny Silvo, Tom Topping Band, Fiona Simpson, John O’Connell, Full House, American Zoe Mulford, Joe Topping, Colin Henderson, Phil Chisnall, Vocal Point, Alison Parker & the Third Man, The Shellback Chorus and The Marrowbones.
There will also be a presentation of music and dance entertain- ment on the fringe, held in and around the recently refurbished main OC Centre building, all free.
The fringe will include rolling folk club concerts, singarounds, music sessions, Appalachian dancers, French Jive dancers, traditional Welsh dancers, belly dancers and music training workshops.
A craft fair will also be located in the grounds.
Weekend tickets are £49 includes a free tent or caravan pitch for the full weekend.
Day tickets for Saturday and Sunday are £25 each and individual concert tickets can be purchased also.
