No Fooling, Alice does disappear down the hole in the first-ever performance in the Williamson Tunnels

ALICE really will be disappearing down a hole in Liverpool this month, with the staging of the first ever theatrical performance in Williamson Tunnels.

Wirral-based theatre company Foolsgold is performing its walk-about version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland in the enigmatic tunnels at Edge Hill on July 21 with performances at 1pm, 4pm, and 7pm.

But that is just one of a series of unusual stops for the troupe, which first of all can be found in Birkenhead Park tonight and tomorrow at 7pm as part of its Festival of Theatre. After that, there will be two shows at Calderstones Park on Friday and Saturday at 5pm. An extra date for the show has been added at Royden Park, Frankby, Wirral on August 2 at 7pm.

Foolsgold is bringing its national tour to Liverpool and Wirral again, staging walkabout theatre at unusual local venues.

It follows previous productions including The Scarlet Pimpernel and The Wizard of Oz in 2006.

Tickets for all shows are £10 in advance (£12 on the night) for adults, with concessions £7 (£8), and a family ticket £30 (£35). Foolsgold reminds attendees of the events to bring something portable to sit on, warm clothing and sturdy footwear.
