Kings of Leon _320
AMERICAN rockers Kings of Leon, whose appeal seems to be growing wider by the week, are the latest big names to book a date at the Echo Arena, Liverpool.
The idiosyncratic family group are currently enjoying a busy summer on the British festival circuit, and their arrival at the Arena in December will feature material from their fourth album, Only By The Night, due for release in September.
Their huge arena tour capitulates on the success they’ve had already this year headlining at Glastonbury, Oxegen in Ireland, T in the Park, and what will inevitably be a crowd- drawing set at V next month.
A warm-up show for the latter at Brixton Academy on August 14 sold out in just three minutes.
The band, from Tennessee, consists of three Followill brothers (Caleb, Nathan, and Jared), and their cousin (Matthew Followill), and their name references that of the brothers’ father and grandfather who were both called Leon.
They grew up following their travelling preacher father around the Southern states, occasionally being called on to play drums for recitals.
A prolific band, since 2003 they’ve released Youth And Young Manhood, Aha Shake Heartbreak and Because Of The Times.
Tickets for their Echo Arena date are cost from £25 + booking / handling fee.
