A still from The Codehunter, an entry into this year's Sefton Film Festival _320
THE Sefton Short Film Festival is returning for its fourth year, bigger and better than ever according to organisers, with more dates, more programmes and a new venue for the event, namely Southport Arts Centre.
The festival was originally created to give new and local film-makers the opportunity to see and showcase their works on the big screen of a proper cinema screen.
S2F2, as it’s known for short, is the brainchild of award-winning writer Ann Monks, and has been made possible through funding and collaboration with Sefton Arts Development, Hustle Productions and especially Express Sefton 08.
She said: "S2F2 continues to grow from strength to strength, and in this our fourth year, we aim to have the biggest and best Festival yet.
"At present, we believe there is no other short film festival in the North West to compare with S2F2."
Although still committed to promoting and championing films by local filmmakers, the festival has now started to attract entries from across the whole of the UK – and indeed the globe, last year receiving entries from the US, Australia, France, Canada and Iceland, as well as over 100 films from the rest of the UK.
S2F2 showed 62 of those films during last year’s event.
The deadline for submitting work is this Friday, August 15, with full details and application forms available on the website www.s2f2.org.uk
