Camelot in Croxteth
AN AUDIENCE of around 200 people enjoyed a performance of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table in the grounds of Croxteth Hall and Country Park last night.
The Chapterhouse Theatre Company staged the tale of romance, gallantry and chivalric quests to an audience of all ages, with several of the younger members entering into the spirit of things by dressing up in period costume. Those who attended the outdoor production were lucky enough to enjoy a picnic on the balmy summer evening, before the performance began.
The show was performed by a nine-strong cast on a round stage representing the court of Camelot, in a story especially written for this production.
It followed Arthur on his journey to become one of the most legendary kings in English history.
Guided by the magician Merlin, Arthur set up his court at Camelot where the legendary Order of the Knights of the Round Table wasestablished.
As well as Arthur, there was an array of colourful characters including brave Sir Gawain, the lovely Guinevere, and the villainous Morgan le Fay.
Along the way, the audience was able to enjoy such traditional elements as sword fights, knights in shining armour and damsels in distress.
