ARTS collective Red Dot is hosting Liverpool’s first recycling week as part of an initiative to get people making art from found materials.
It is running free workshops as part of Recycle into Art, part of the independent strand of the Liverpool Biennial, from September 19 to 26.
Its launch event is at St Luke’s Church, on Berry Street, courtesy of Urban Strawberry Lunch, a band whose instruments are made from waste objects, who aim to show visitors how to make music with rubbish.
The event runs from 12-5pm on the 19th.
Artists including Jane Fairhurst, Anne Mawdsley and Alice Lenkiewicz will individually run six workshops between 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm from September 22 to 26 at the Liverpool Centre for Arts Development on Franceys Street, off Brownlow Hill.
Participants will learn about creating everything from jewel- lery to props and art- work from materials including recycled wire and toothpaste tubes.
