WKLOS to mark 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War with a staging of Oh What A Lovely War

WEST Kirby Light Operatic Society bring their latest production to the Gladstone Theatre this week.

To mark the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War, WKLOS is staging Oh What a Lovely War at the Port Sunlight venue from tomorrow through to Saturday.

A cast of colourful characters swap hats, helmets and sides to give a touching account of the war.

With all the punch of Saving Private Ryan and the hilarious satire of Blackadder goes Forth together with some of the most evocative music of the last century, the show uses an inspired mix of passion, pathos, satire, comedy and anger at the stupidity of war to create a memorable evening of musical theatre at its best.

From the moment the audience enter the theatre they will become part of the action, with the show featuring favourites as Pack up your Troubles in your Old Kit Bag, Keep the Home Fires Burning, Roses of Picardy and It’s a Long Way to Tiperary.

Oh What a Lovely War follows on from WKLOS’s successes of their Liverpool Empire productions of Titanic and Seussical.

The show runs nightly with a Saturday matinee. Tickets are £11 (£9 concs) at the theatre box office on 0151 643 8757 or from WKLOS on 0151 342 2143.
