CHICAGO-BASED musician Tom Fuller plays a one-off Liverpool show as part of his first UK tour tomorrow night.
It’s a personal highlight for the guitarist, who is aiming to make it in Europe following success in the States.
“I’ve never played in the UK before and that’s why it’s so important to me,” he said.
What began as London dates branched out to other parts of the country, after which Tom insisted he and his band made it all the way up to Liverpool.
“I’ve been to Liverpool before and I loved it. It’s phenomenal and evocative, and this is almost like major dream stuff.
“So I always planned to go to the Cavern Club. If I was going to Liverpool, I didn’t want to play anywhere else.”
Tom’s career began after he won a John Lennon song writing contest with his piano ballad Someone Like You, giving him a break into the music business.
“It’s all about the music for me. Europe really appreciates the quality of the music. Sometimes in America, people get involved in music for the glamour,” he says.
“Some of the best rock music has come from the UK and British music has influenced American music.”
He will be playing a showcase of songs from his second album Abstract Man, and a cover of the Hollies’ The Air That I Breathe.
“I’ve always had a high de- gree of passion and ambition – I’ve always wanted to go as high and as far as I can. I still feel like I’m just getting started. My dream now is to open for Tom Petty, he’s the real deal. I’d also love to open for the Dave Matthews Band. ”
