Last cultural Sunday socials

THIS weekend sees the end of a unique series of afternoon cultural events, the Month of Sundays gatherings from Club Geek Chic.

Taking place at the View Two gallery, on Mathew Street, "conversation, cultivation and sophistication are the order of the day".

Club Geek Chic was set up to offer an alternative meeting place for what it calls "discerning socialites" – people looking to go out and enjoy a drink and conversation in nice surroundings without the volume of a club.

Parties are held in different venues across the city of cultural or historical interest and include guest speakers, DJs and exhibitionss, literature, fashion and performance.

Women and singles are especially welcome, as host Gemma Aldcroft is happy to introduce newcomers so no-one feels left out.

"I really think it's important to offer an alternative for people who want to go out but don't want their ear- drums perforated and enjoy conversation as well as a bit of a boogie," she said. "In this year of culture, the one thing I don't think has been addressed enough is the club and bar scene."

Special guests at recent Month of Sundays events have included Liverpool’s only female barbershop quartet, singer Jennifer John, actress Eithne Brown and even Coronation Street’s Micky Starke, who turned up to sing a couple of numbers.

This Sunday, Thomas Lang and Mark Morag- han, currently starring in Erics – The Musical, will be entertaining the audience.

View Two gallery, Mathew Street, from 4pm. Tickets £5 on the door.

More events are being planned for the coming months. For more inform- ation, visit www. clubgeekchic.co.uk
