Free gigs unveiled for MTV festival

THE MTV Liverpool Music Week festival takes place in November, and organisers have announced the first wave of acts for this year’s free show agenda.

Sonny J, John Power and The Maybes? lead the pack for a string of free shows to be held at Bumper and Alma de Cuba.

Other names include Noah & The Whale, returning to Liverpool after a busy 2008, and Wiley – the Wearing My Rolex star. MOBO winners rapper Sway and jazz player Soweto Kinch each have shows lined up on November 5, as do Šindie rockers The Holloways.

North Liverpool boys The Maybes? will be performing tracks off their debut album, Promise, alongside special guest John Power, at Alma de Cuba on November 2.

Eugene McGuinness returns on October 30

Liverpool’s Sonny J is to end the festival with a bang on November 6.

Entry to each gig will be on a strictly first-come, first-served basis.
