Blues duo Louisiana Red and Michael Messer visit Southport Arts Centre

THE sound of the Blues will fill Southport Arts Centre tomorrow night as part of its Great Guitars Season.
Friends for many years, Louisiana Red and Michael Messer will join together for the concert at the town’s Lord Street venue.
Red has performed with Muddy Waters and BB King, and has a personal history steeped in the early days of Delta Blues, while Messer is a British bluesman of rare quality, once described as “one of the greatest slide guitarists ever alongside Duane Allman and Ry Cooder”.
They will be supported by 16-year-old Lucy Zirins.
Messer says: “I have not seen a young girl play and sing blues like Lucy since Jo Ann Kelly, Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams started their careers.”
