Looking Back: Rope Shop

Sadly rope shops no longer exist in Duke Street, heart of the Ropewalks area.

Here is the Twine Stores and its proprietor, taken just before or after World War I, of Richard Roberts, Rope Twine & Bag Manufacturer (estab 1784), at 118 Duke Street, offering every possible kind of rope including ‘tow ropes for motors’. The firm had disappeared by the late1930s.
