In search of enlightenment

THE Hippy Trail runs on Radio 2 next Tuesday (September 18) between 10.30 and 11.30pm. It is being presented by Hardeep Singh Kohli, 38, right, sometimes seen on TV in his turban presenting Late Night Review.

“We just decided to retrace the journey the hippies took all those years ago,” he says. “The documentary has got some great music in it. There are some great experiences of travelling in it. One forgets how much India and the world have moved on. I loved all that rock music. Also the Beatles legacy in connection with the spiritual is very interesting.

“It always made me laugh because everyone was going to India to find themselves and my family had come from India.”

His father, a customs official in north west India, and the rest of the family settled in Glasgow when Hardeep was six.
